Ketubah Text Choices

Michelle "Shell" Rummel's Ketubah texts poetically convey traditional concepts of love and commitment. Each original, unique and beautiful English text is accompanied by a Hebrew text that represents, as closely as possible, the sentiments conveyed in the English version. We are very proud of our extraordinary Ketubah texts and our non traditional Hebrew translations, which are as elegantly written as our English text options. All of our available texts can be viewed on Ketubah.com.

Although choosing a text is a highly personal decision, it is strongly recommend that you consult with your Rabbi or Officiant before choosing a text to ensure that the text is acceptable and appropriate for your ceremony.

Michelle "Shell" Rummel's Ketubot are available in the following text options:

Orthodox Texts

Orthodox Hebrew/Aramaic

The Orthodox text is written in Aramaic, a language which dates back to the 1st Century. This traditional text is, in essence, a prenuptial agreement, ensuring that the bride will be taken care of financially by the groom in the event of the dissolution of the marriage.

The Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic text is offered two ways:
1. Orthodox Hebrew/Aramaic-only; or
2. Orthodox Hebrew/Aramaic with one of our non-literal Reform, Interfaith, or Commitment English texts.

Please note that there are different variations of this text depending upon the Personalization information you provide on the Personalization Section of the Ketubah Order Form.

Conservative Texts

Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic

The Conservative text is the same as the Orthodox text, with the exception of the addition of a 20th Century provision called the "Lieberman Clause", which requires a groom to agree to give his bride a divorce if she so desires.

The Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic text is offered two ways:
1. Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic-only; or
2. Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic with one of our non-literal Reform, Interfaith or Commitment English texts.

Please note that there are different variations of this text depending upon the Personalization information you provide on the Personalization Section of the Ketubah Order Form.

Alternative Conservative Texts

The Conservative English text is an egalitarian English text that may be paired with the Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic text. The Conservative English text is not a translation of the Conservative Hebrew/Aramaic text.

Reform Texts

The Reform text options we offer are contemporary expressions of love and commitment that have been written by Michelle "Shell" Rummel. Their accompanying Hebrew text is a poetic translation of the English.
